Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream Review

I'd like to introduce you to my luxury favorite facial moisturizer. I have been using it for more than 6 months now, have repurchased, and cannot see myself without it. Meet Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream.

Last fall, I started experiencing breakouts with facial care products containing coconut oil. Coconut oil is considered highly comedogenic. I had never experienced pore clogging and acne breakouts with it before, but all of a sudden my skin began to experience what many others go through. When I stopped using products with coconut oil on my face, the problem cleared up. Note - I still can apply cleansers with coconut oil on my face(this has been my go-to cleanser for nearly a year), but these rinse off clean and don't remain on the skin like a moisturizer.

I needed to find a new moisturizer that was free of this ingredient. I was sent a Good to Glow kit from Peter Thomas Roth several months ago. Among the great items inside was a jar of Water Drench and I immediately fell in love. This is a coconut oil free moisturizer that gives your skin a lit from within glow.

How I use it:

This is, for me, a year 'round cream. I just use it a bit differently in the winter when the heat is on and the fireplace is burning. Both zap moisture from my skin, so I apply this morning (under my suncreen) and night (over my retinol serum). In the summertime, my skin is more oily and I use this only at night.

What is in it?

Water, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dipropylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Cyclohexasiloxane, Yeast Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ceramide Eop, Ceramide Eos, Ceramide Ap, Ceramide Np, Ceramide Ns, Sambucus Nigra Fruit Extract, Hydrolyzed Silk, Sodium Pca, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Caprooyl Phytosphingosine, Caprooyl Sphingosine, Saccharide Isomerate, Saccharomyces/Magnesium Ferment, Saccharomyces/Iron Ferment, Saccharomyces/Copper Ferment, Saccharomyces/Silicon Ferment, Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Methyl Gluceth-20, Ethylhexylglycerin, Lauryl Peg-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Cholesterol, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Behenic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Ceteareth-25, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone/Peg-10/15 Crosspolymer, Cetyl Alcohol, Diso- Dium Edta, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Mica

Stand-out ingredients

Sodium Hyaluronate - This molecule holds 1000 its weight in water, smooths the look of wrinkles and softens the skin.

Ceramides - Proven to support skin structure, increase hydration, skin plumping

Sambucus Nigra Fruit Extract- This is black elderberry extract and it contains an abundance of flavonoids, conditions, protects, and helps to balance the skin.

Sodium PCA - This deeply penetrating ingredient helps to ease skin inflammation.

Saccharomyces/Magnesium Ferment - Skin conditioning antioxidant

Saccharomyces/Copper Ferment - Antioxidant

Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment - Helps skin retain moisture

Why I love it

A little goes a long with this lightweight gel cream. Yes, it is $52, but it lasts longer than any moisturizer I have had in a jar/bottle of the same size. My favorite things about this:

  • Fragrance free - This is important to me. I do not use facial skincare products with artificial fragrance.
  • Cooling and soothing - This feels amazing on my skin. It truly soothes the skin and my skin just drinks it in, feeling comforted and pampered with each application.
  • Doesn't pill under makeup - Don't you hate it when that happens? There is nothing worse in the morning when you are in a hurry than applying foundation over your moisturizer and having it ball up. This cream from PTR is fast absorbing and doesn't interfere with makeup.
  • Perfect consistency - This is my ideal formulation. It is both rich and lightweight at the same time. My skin is adequately moisturized without it feeling heavy or sticky.
  • Keeps my skin hydrated - The packaging claim says that it will help lock in hydration for up to 72 hours. I haven't gone that long without it, so I cannot say with certainty that this is true. However, my skin feels consistently hydrated.
  • Ideal for all skin types - Yep. Whether your skin is oily or dry, this will work for you.

The Chic & Green Bottom Line

Does Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream live up to its hype? YES, unequivocally! I am sent freebies at least two days a week from skincare brands. I do not NEED to purchase products. I rarely do, as there is always something in my arsenal. However, I have repurchased this and will do so again. I give this a 5 star rating and can recommend to all skin types.
