My projects have been taking longer than planned just because:
#1 -- I am doing almost everything myself
#2 -- I keep getting swayed by so many different ideas on Pinterest that I keep changing my mind on colors
Tom's work schedule has been super hectic and the boys and I have taken turn being sick on and off for the past month. All is well now and I've made some decorating decisions. I need by hubby to help me with plumbing stuff. I tried to remove a tile backsplash recently and ended up hitting myself with the pry bar (I give clumsy a new name), so he said to PLEASE wait on doing anything else with tools.
The upstairs bath will be completed by mid December. It is the only full bath in our house so careful planning is needed. The shower wall enclosure is complete and the ugly tile in that area is no more. Our black and white flooring arrived, all the accessories are here, and I even have the new towels, shower curtain, etc.
We need to go get the wainscoting for the bathroom to cover the salmon tiles....the wallpaper is gone. PLEASE excuse the 50s bath. It's the one room which has gone untouched in these 7 years, although we did take out the over toilet cabinet a few years back:
And here is my soon to be applied paint color:
Behr Venus Teal
This shade will be painted above a crisp, fresh white wainscoting. The floors will be tiled black and white check. A new white toilet and white pedestal sink will replace the salmon.
Not sure about the window treatments....
- I have completed Nick and Ben's room. They have messed it up with a Lego explosion and need to clean it and I will post pictures!
I am also going to put in a new floor in the downstairs powder room. I am actually using leftover tile from our kitchen and will do it this weekend. I am tinkering with the notion of doing something uber clever I saw online....using Elmer's glue and water to make a Modge Podge type product and using heavy wrapping paper to make wallpaper. Would you believe the powder room below has walls done with gift wrap and Elmer's glue?
My inspiration was found on Apartment Therapy
I need to take a before pic of the full powder room--this is just a glimpse saved on my computer:
...And before it was robin's egg blue, it was a deep rose when we moved in. I needed to lighten it up:
So the plan is a rich brown tile on the floor, new mirror, new faucet, and an idea to make a skirted sink:
Powder Room will be finished by Wednesday!
I am happy to say I found a really great vintage mirror for $4.99 at the Salvation Army today. It's an aged brass, though, and will be painted. I'll use this in the powder room.
I'll keep you posted!
