Au Naturale Eye Essentials Kit

{Natural Makeup Talk}

I've been wanting to share my thoughts on my new Silk Naturals products with you for a while, but haven't had a chance.

I'll do this in two or three parts because I am not wearing a couple of the things I ordered today and want to be able to share them all with you. On weekdays, I go out for coffee after dropping off the boys and then blog, make new pieces for my jewelry line, and run errands. I prefer a natural makeup look and tend just to experiment when I'm going out at night.

I ordered several new things a couple weeks back and love nearly everything. The one thing that I wanted to love most, though, didn't work out for me: the foundation. I've loved everything from this company and have heard rave reviews from so many people about the foundation. I have friends who adore the foundation. Like anything, however, foundations are cosmetics items that can vary greatly from person to person.

I ordered the Buttery Gold Medium Coverage kit. Unlike other companies, you order a kit and then you mix your own product so the color is meant to match your skin if it gets a little lighter or darker when the seasons change. It is a wonderful concept and I was able to blend myself a perfect match to look natural and tone down the ruddiness in my cheeks. It looked lovely right when I put it on.

Unfortunately, the product seemed to almost melt off my skin within a few hours and after two uses, I got a pimple on my cheek. This has happened to me with other mineral foundations before which contain magnesium stearate. This is not a bad ingredient and it is not uncommon in mineral foundations. It is just one of those ingredients that sometimes causes me to break out. Because so many others have had great results with this, I highly recommend trying one of their sample size starter kits to see if it works for you as it does for my friends.

I do love everything else from the order, though, especially the lipsticks! In this picture, I have a combination of two Silk Naturals lip colors on:  Gold Blush worn over Raisin. I also have to tell you how much I am loving the blush from Silk Naturals! I ordered Climax, which is their version of the cult favorite Nars Orgasm. I had the Nars blush years ago and I can tell you that the quality of the Silk Naturals is even better at a fraction of the cost. I was discussing the Climax blush with another fair skinned friend and she and I both noticed that this one is best suited for those with fair skin because it is such a sheer version.

It is lovely, though, and looks natural. In this picture, I am wearing Climax blush. This is a shimmer blush, but as you can see it is very wearable for daytime and doesn't give that disco ball glittery effect. It is a very muted shimmer. When I apply this at 7:30am, I find that it wears well and lasts all day long--right until I remove my makeup at bedtime.

Other Silk Naturals products I have on today: the Brow Powder in Medium Ash, which I find to be nearly identical to Bare Escentuals Dark Blonde/Medium Brown. The difference? This one lasts all day and costs just $3.50 as opposed to $11! Seriously!

I could rave all day about the Silk Naturals Tinted Blur Powder as well. It is my go-to finishing powder and I adore it! I also have a little bit of Pristine Perfecting Glow on.

Other products I am wearing today: Everyday Minerals Semi Matte Foundation in Linen (I switched from Winged Butter for winter), Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara in Ultra Black, Everyday Minerals Sweet Woodruff liner, Everyday Minerals Aussie Perk Me Up Concealer, and the Stone eye palette from Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy.

As you can see, I'm slowly becoming a Silk Naturals girl and am a huge fan! Next time, I'll be sharing the Peacock creme liner and the Shrieking Violet lip gloss, which looks like a bright and bold fuchsia, but looks really pretty on.

I want you to keep remembering that you do not have to spend hundreds of dollars for good products. What are some of your favorite affordable and natural products? I'd love to hear!
