Hello friends. I have been away from my desk, having spent the morning at Stein Mart and Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters with my mom before getting Benjamin from school. Now I'm enjoying the sunshine and summer weather. I decided I better check my email. I wasn't prepared for what would be in the inbox.
My main selling venue--the one I have cherished like no other--is shutting down. I have been proud to be at 1000 Markets since March 2009. I left Etsy and my own website and put all my eggs in one basket, so to speak, with my skincare line. It thrived on 1000 Markets and was just the right fit. When I closed my business and took time off, I missed the people at the site. I missed my fellow sellers. I missed everything about the venue. It was only natural that I would launch my line of jewelry there in January. It was the perfect place for it. It did nicely and I have been able to have some really lovely customers.
1000 Markets was acquired by Bonanzle and will become BONANZA. It is not solely for handmade items and I kind of get an eBay kind of vibe. My gut, which has never led me astray, says not to transition over there. I am about 99% sure I will not move over there, so my shop at 1000 Markets will soon be empty. This is sad for me because it really was home to me.
I started listing items this summer on Etsy again, even though it is not--as a seller--the ideal place in my view. I am tinkering with the idea of placing most of my inventory over at ArtFire, but am unsure. I opened a shop and the thought of having to start from scratch with over 100 pieces is daunting. The other baby of the folks at 1000 Markets called Bixbe is also closing down. My Facebook Fans have been able to shop right from Facebook through the simple Bixbe tab, so I am essentially losing two venues in one swoop.
Ultimately, I would like to have my Loubird Handmade site as the only online venue. I just need to find the time to do this huge project. I wanted to keep you all in the loop!
