Au Naturale Eye Essentials Kit

{best face forward}

I have never really been much of an Avon fan. In most cases, the ingredients have been less than stellar and prices a bit high when you consider the product quality. I also think most of their makeup is of poor quality. Recently, though, the company has been revamping product ingredients and formulating many skin care items without parabens and other nasties.

Back in February, I recommended the newly reformulated Avon Anew Clinical Eye Lift.

Over the past several weeks, I have been testing out facial creams with an effective sunscreen. For my moisturizer, I had been using Rosehip & Hibiscus Facial Lotion from an Oregon company called Essential Wholesale. I was also using a separate sunscreen. Since the weather has gotten warmer, I have been hunting for a good daytime moisturizer with a sunscreen built in and I have found one I really like.

I have been using Avon Ultimate Day Age Repair Cream SPF 25. It is rich and nourishing, while being lightweight. It doesn't ball up underneath makeup and it sinks right into my skin. I apply after using my Thayer's Alcohol Free Rose Petal Toner and then let it sink in before applying my Everyday Minerals makeup.

The Avon SPF cream retails for $34, but it sells regularly on eBay new and boxed for under $15.

While it isn't perfect in terms of ingredients--propylene glycol is listed near the bottom of the ingredients list--the pros definitely outweigh the cons. There are no parabens. It contains an effective concentration of sun protection. There are natural extracts present, such as a gentle Japanese hops extract (Humulus  Japonicus Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract), soy, and an abundance of peptides. This is a really solid facial product and one I can see myself using for many years. I like that I do not need to add in my own sunscreen ingredients like I used to or use two separate products.

I have a great routine going now. In the morning, I simply use the Burt's Bees Radiance Facial Cleanser, Thayer's Toner, and this product from Avon. By the way, I also use this one as an eye cream each morning, saving the Clinical Eye Lift for night time use only. I really like that it is gentle and doesn't sting the eye area. The delicate skin under the eye needs sun protection as well, so that's why I am using this as both a face and eye cream each morning.

Speaking of sun protection, I have had many emails regarding the new study claiming that most sunscreens on the market are unsafe because of the Vitamin A. I will be addressing this study and giving you my thoughts in the coming days.

Note: I purchased this product on my own. I am in no way affiliated with Avon or other companies mentioned in this post.
