I am going to share a recipe with you that your skin will love. This was my best-selling Facial Mist and a staple of mine. I use it every morning before I apply my moisturizer and every night before my night cream.I even carry a small bottle in my handbag so I can spritz it on if my skin feels dry at all. It also works well to set your makeup.
Extra gentle, this is made of Aloe Vera Juice, Distilled Water, Chamomile Essential Oil and Carrot Seed Oil. There is nothing else in this. It is simple, yet highly effecive.
Let's take a look at the benefits of the ingredients:
Carrot Seed Oil is ideal for mature skin. It has both revitalizing and toning capabilities, as it can actually stimulate cell growth and greatly helps the epidermis. In addition, it helps lend a firmer appearance to the skin and remove toxins. To learn more about the benefits of Carrot Seed Essential Oil, please see the feature from May 2009: Carrot Seed Oil.
Chamomile contains something called Azulene. This is a natural substance which has been shown in several studies to actually stop the deterioration of skin cells (which leads to wrinkling). They are ideal antioxidants.
Aloe Vera Juice is one of the ingredients I use in almost everything because I truly believe it to be one of the best ingredients for everyone.
It has tremendous healing abilities, can reduce scarring, soothe the skin from sunburn and other irritation, can help kill bacteria, reduce inflammation, redness, itching, and restore a youthful glow. It is high in vitamins E and C. I can't say enough about this ingredient. I drink aloe vera juice every single day and use it on my skin as well.
Recipe (this is for about 4 ounces):
2 ounces Organic Aloe Vera Juice (I like Organic Creations or NOW brand sold at the health foods store)
1 ounce Distilled Water (never use tap in making your skin care, as it may contain contaminants and other trace minerals)
SHAKE WELL. The essential oil will appear and is visible if in a clear container. This is OK. Just shake well before each use.
Notes: For even better results, steep a few chamomile buds in this. You can use the remaining buds for the gentle cleanser recipe from last year on the blog. Unpreserved, this will keep for several weeks. If you wish to keep yours longer, I recommend preserving with Ascorbic Acid & Potassium Sorbate. For maximum longevity, you will need a stronger preservative.
