Makeup Monday: Cargo Plant Love
The first product I ever purchased from Cargo was at Eaton's in Toronto--a creamy lipstick in a gorgeous neutral called Copenhagen. That was 10 years ago.
Cargo really has evolved into an eco-conscious company with its Plant Love products.
They have eye shadows, blush and some really nice lipglosses--many of which are 100% natural and contain no parabens, petrochemicals, phthalates or other nasties. The eye shadows are truly luxurious and have argan oil in them. Given how expensive argan oil is, I am surprised how high up on the ingredients list this is--you're truly getting quality ingredients and products in the Plant Love range.
If you're unsure of which product to try, I recommend starting with a little of everything in the Green Goddess compact. This will give you 4 highly wearable eye shadows (I am very cool and even the soft olive shade, Thyme, works pretty nicely) and 2 blushes.
I have to say that I adore the Beech shade. It's slightly shimmery without being inappropriate for daytime and is just stunning. The texture of these shadows is wonderful. The blushes work really well, especially when mixed together. Both colors are very wearable for many different skintones.
This set is limited edition and only available at Sephora.
I have tried some of the Plant Love lip glosses. They are really nice glosses, but not really worth $20 a pop. I like Sunflower for holiday time. It'll look stunning applied over a deep eggplant or ruby shade for night time. The Carmation is a wonderfully neutral soft plum and is ideal for anytime wear.
The major disappointment for me is the fact that the Plant Love lipstick contains more than one type of paraben. Since Plant Love is so impressive as a whole, they really goofed up by adding so many nasties to the lipstick.
Reminder: If you adore Sephora, then you know there's a Friends and Family code out there to save 20% off your order! Use code "FF2008", but it expires very soon, if I recall correctly...
